Even though Thomas Argeneau is over two hundred years old his older cousins still treat him like a kid. Little do they know, Thomas has a mature side he rarely shows. In addition to being more responsible than he lets on, he’s also a talented composer. Raised by his aunt Marguerite and rather abusive uncle, Thomas keeps quiet about his music out of the fear that the cousins he thinks of as brothers will mock him they way his uncle did.
A Missing Vampire Woman
Inspired by her nephew Vincent’s new life mate, Marguerite has decided, after seven hundred years as a housewife, to become a private investigator. Her very first case leads her to England in search of a vampire man’s mother. But she hasn’t called her children for three days. Considering that her only daughter, Lissianna, is about to give birth the fact she hasn’t called is even more concerning.
While Marguerite isn’t his mother, she’s the closest thing that Thomas has to one and he doesn’t hesitate to jump on a plane straight to England. In the hopes of making things easier for him, before getting to England himself, Thomas’ cousin sends Inez Urso to take care of him. Inez is the vice president of the England office of Argeneau Enterprises.
Picking Up a Vampire at the Airport
Inez gets a call from her boss while she’s still sound asleep. Without a shower or, more importantly, her morning tea, Inez rushes out to the airport to pick up Thomas. But he walks right by her without even noticing, forcing Inez to take a cab to the hotel and follow him to his room.
Everything that she’s heard from his cousin paints Thomas as a lazy, unreliable loafer and Inez is less than pleased that she has to play host to him.
A Boss and a Boyfriend for a Vampire
Due to an oversight, Inez hasn’t learned the nature of her employers, and has no idea that she’s staying in a hotel with a vampire. That is, until Thomas is forced to bite her when the bagged blood he needs for dinner doesn’t arrive.
But there’s a problem: Thomas can’t erase her memory of the bite. Having just watched five cousins and two uncles meet their life mates, Thomas knows that the fact he can’t control her mind means that Inez is his. Now his life mate is locked in the bathroom, possibly fashioning a cross out of soap, and cursing him in English and Portuguese. He has less than two hours to get her on a plane to Amsterdam to follow a lead on his missing aunt.
Even after he convinces her to come out, Thomas still has to get her to fall in love with him, allow him to turn her into a vampire, and agree to spend the rest of forever with him all while trying to find Marguerite. When another vampire controls Inez and erases her memory Thomas and Inez realize that they’re getting close and that Marguerite’s disappearance is more sinister than they thought.
